Regular Monthly Council Member Meeting for September 2023

On September 13th, 2023, David Lynn Skinner, the President, called the meeting to order at 11:07 AM, and twenty-five active council members were present. Brenda Bunn read the minutes of the last Board of Directors meeting held on September 6th, 2023, which were unanimously approved after a motion made by Linda Allen and seconded by Doris Love. 

Brenda Karber presented the treasurer's report for August, which was also unanimously approved on a motion made by Lloyd Jorden and seconded by Gerald Bunn. The agenda for old business included a vote for Tellers, who were selected as Lloyd Jorden, Margaret Campbell, and Beatrice Barnett.

Afterwards, the attendees were invited to bring up new business. Finally, a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Linda Allen, seconded by Doris Love, and unanimously approved.

Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Arkadelphia Council on Aging

Attendance

In attendance were Vice-President Eunice Stroud, Secretary Brenda Bunn, Treasurer Brena Karber, Past President Bill Goff, Site Director Sharon Bell, and Directors at large Anne Mahan, and Lucius Grisgly. David Lynn Skinner was absent due to illness.


Call to Order

Vice-President Eunice Stroud called the meeting to order. Invocation by Eunice Stroud.

Reading of Minutes and Treasurer’s Report

The minutes of the August 2th 2023 board meeting were read by Brenda Bunn and unanimously approved.


The August 2023 Treasurer's Report was read by Brenda Bunn. On a motion made by Bill Goff, seconded by Ann Mahan, and unanimously approved, the treasurer’s report was accepted as read.


Brenda Karber read the treasurer’s report for July 2023. On a motion made by Bill Goff, seconded by Eunice Stroud, and unanimously approved, the treasurer’s report was accepted as read.


Old Business

  1. Request Nominations of Tellers from the Council Members. Placed on agenda for next council member meeting.

  2. Request Nominations of candidates for interim director from the Council Members. Placed on agenda for next council member meeting.

  3. Discussion to accept donations on our website using Paypal connected to our website. Deferred until David Skinner and Brenda Karber can obtain the correct forms.

  4. Discussion of budget proposals deferred until next month to obtain a specific list.


Discussion

Bill Goff opened a discussion regarding revenue from the city. Sharon Bell explained why we needed to do fundraisers.


Sharon Bell explained to the board the flow of funds. Funds raised by the ACOA are to be used by the board for the four specific purposes defined in the By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation, namely to 

  • support the programs of the CADC, like the Meals for Seniors

  • support and promote the senior centres in Clark County, 

  • promote the well-being of seniors through health, education, activities, trips, etc.

  • Promote senior interests in the community.


New Business

Sharon Bell requested help getting word out to the community about a fundraiser. One is a Basket for Thanksgiving, another for Christmas. Bill Goff asked if the council could help with filling the Baskets. Brenda Karber made a motion for the council to buy items to fill the baskets. Brenda Bunn seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Adjourned

On a motion made by Brenda Karber and seconded by Bill Goff, the meeting was adjourned from 11:34 AM until 11 AM Wednesday, October 4th 2023.
