Minutes of the January 2024 Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arkadelphia Council on Aging

 Our meeting was called to order by Vice President Eunice Stroud on January 3rd. 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Board members present were Eunice Stroud, Brenda Bunn, Bill Goff, Maggie Winton, Lucius Grigsby, and Site Manager Sharon Bell, was also present. 

The invocation was by Beatrice Barnett. 

The minutes of the meeting held December 6th. 2023 was read by Secretary Brenda Dunn. Bill Gall made a motion to accept the minutes second by. seconded by Maggie Quinton. 

treasurer's report was not available. Brenda Carver had called in and gave me a report from the end of the year balance, which was $2177.34. 

Old business

Eunice attended a meeting by the city of Arkadelphia to report how the money had been used for Meals for Seniors. There are around 6000 meals per year that are delivered. Our center and our volunteers have done a great job. 

Bill Golf discussed replacing David Skinner as president because he's not able to attend our meeting. but no motion was made at this time. 

We had people who wanted to ask about the bus rides to Fishnet in Glenwood. They were not on the agenda, so no action was taken at this time. 

We as a board would like to ask anyone who wishes to speak at our meeting to please contact our president for a place on the agenda. Thank you.

New business

we have two openings on our board. If you wish to be a board member, submit your name at the next board meeting. The board will meet in executive session. To discuss and vote on the person that wants to join.

Arkadelphia Council on Aging minutes of January 2024 Council Meeting

 January 10th 2024.

President David Skinner called the meeting to order at 11:00 AM. A quorum of 22 members was present. Treasurer Brenda Karber read the minutes in place of Brenda Bunn, who was absent. A motion to approve the minutes was made by Doris Love and seconded by Bill Goff. The motion carried.


Brenda Karber gave the treasurer's report, stating that the current balance is $2142.81. The balance was approved by a motion made by Bill Goff and seconded by Darrell Pickens.


Under old business, David Skinner reported two vacancies on the board. Beatrice Barnett and Steve Garum were nominated, and Maggie Winston motioned to accept the nominations. Boyd Pierce seconded the motion, and it carried.


David Skinner announced that the board meeting would be on the first Wednesday of each month, and the Council meeting would be on the second Wednesday. He also announced a fundraiser for the center, an auction of flowers, which would take place on February 14th, 2024.


A motion to adjourn was made by Bill Goff at 11:15 AM and seconded by Pat Williams.

Dominoes

 

I love to play 🎲 dominoes at the 🏥 Arkadelphia Senior Activity Center. Four members come every morning and share 🍲 food with me. I love everybody at the center. 🙏 Thank the Lord that we have this community. 🙏 Thank you, David.

Online Computer Science for Seniors

Seniors in Clark County, as well as members of the Arkadelphia Council on Aging (ASAC), are invited to join an online computer science class instructed by David Lynn Skinner. Each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion indicating their level of accomplishment. Individual instruction will also be available at the Arkadelphia Senior Activity Center.

Everyone who completes the first four lessons will be able to create content for our website or create their own website with or without monetization. The additional lessons are optional.

David has a rich experience in the industry, having built his first computer at the age of 12 in 1966. He has worked for numerous companies and has published many programs.
